July 31 - day 36 Sunday
Start - 10 miles east of Bismarck, ND
End - 5 miles west of Medina, ND
start time 245pm, 715pm
end time 535pm, 750pm
miles driven - 15 (from Mandan through Bismarck), 21 (from Steele to Medina)
We started the day going to Church with our friend Herman in Bismarck at the Century Baptist Church. After church we changed clothes, got something to eat and drove outside of Bismarck about 10 miles. We like to try to clear the city to get into slower traffic areas. We followed the frontage road along I94 all the way to Steele ND exit 200. The frontage road turned to gravel and we ended up driving to Medina which was at exit 221. We road for about 5 miles on another frontage road toward Cleveland. The road was closed after about 5 miles due to flooding - we could see that about 1/4 mile of road was underwater. This was very common from Mandan east. Flooding due to rains and heavy snow this winter has been a problem. The Missouri River has been above flood stage for over two months.
As for the riding. We faced pretty strong winds out of the East and the riding was mostly flat.
